Absentee Voting
I thought it would be easy to vote absentee here. Several had told me you just go to the US Embassy and cast your ballot. Well, yesterday I found out that is not so easy!
I took Doris with me. She is from Iowa and wanted to vote since it would be so “easy”! When we arrived, we found out that you had to have applied for an absentee ballot. If you had, it had to be sent for at least 7 days prior to the election. Since mail takes at least 6 weeks to get here from the states, that would never work.
They did let you vote for the federal offices up for grab in your state. We thought, OK, we will just do that. When we got the ballot, they were all “right in”only ballots! Only one problem for each of us. We didn’t know who was running for office of US Senator or Representative in Iowa or Arkansas! Oh well, maybe next time!
CNN constantly talks about the US elections. From what we hear, a Republican has no chance of winning. Should be interesting.
